WILMOT, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a 32-year-old Wilmot man was killed in a one-vehicle crash in Roberts County.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol estimates the accident took place between 6 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. Monday as Joseph Rondeau was driving his vehicle along Highway 15 near Wilmot.

The Highway Patrol says his vehicle drifted off the road, struck guard rail and rolled down an embankment before coming to rest on its roof.

Rondeau suffered fatal injuries even though he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Highway Patrol doesn’t believe alcohol or cellphone use were factors.

An investigation is ongoing.
