GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) - Five Leflore County residents have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to acquire prescription painkillers by forging prescriptions.

The Greenwood Commonwealth reports (https://bit.ly/1H2FfK2 ) were arrested this past week after being indicted by a local grand jury.

Authorities say Ronald R. Rozier II, Tamara Rozier, Carter Kossman, Thomas Turner and Steven M. Blount have each been charged with various counts of acquiring a controlled substance by fraud. Each has been released on bond.

No trial has been announced. It is not immediately clear if they have attorneys.

Prosecutors say the five allegedly conspired to forge prescriptions to obtain a total of about 3,000 dosage units of oxycodone and hydrocodone, both opioid painkillers.

The charges came after an 18month investigation by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
