DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines man has turned himself in to authorities after a 50-year-old man’s death in a weekend assault was ruled a homicide.

The Des Moines Police Department says 29-year-old Daniel Patton was charged Wednesday with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Andrew Purcell. His wife, 29-year-old Adrena Patton, was charged with accessory after the fact.

Officers responded around 12:50 a.m. Sunday to reports of an unconscious man outside a Des Moines bar and found Purcell on the ground. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he died Monday.

Both were taken to the Polk County Jail. Online court records indicate whether the couple has attorneys to request comment on their behalf.
