JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway officials say the construction of 11 miles of four-lane highway between Jonesboro and U.S. Highway 67 should be done by early next year.

The $82 million project is set to connect U.S. 67 north of Newport with U.S. Highway 49 using Arkansas 226. Officials say the project will make travel quicker.

Emanuel Banks with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department said Tuesday that work on the project would wrap up in late fall or early 2016.

Officials picked the construction area as the site for its annual reminder to motorists to drive carefully in work zones.
