LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A North Little Rock police officer and a suspect were injured during a foot chase Wednesday when they were struck by a North Little Rock police cruiser.

Police said in a statement released Wednesday that the officer was trying to contact a suspect at a house on the 700 block of West 24th Street about 4 p.m. A few minutes later, the officer notified police dispatch that he was chasing the suspect on foot.

A second officer driving into the area to assist struck both the first officer and the suspect with his patrol car.

The suspect and first officer were both taken to the University of Arkansas for the Medical Sciences with non-life threatening injuries.

No names have been released.
