SHERIDAN, Wyo. (AP) - The Sheridan County Republican Party has begun the process of filling the seat left vacant by the death of state Rep. John Patton.

The Sheridan Republican died on Sunday. His term doesn’t expire until the end of 2016.

The secretary of the Sheridan County Republican Party has called a meeting of the precinct committeemen and committeewomen who reside in state House District 29 to be held April 18 in Sheridan.

The Sheridan Press reports (https://bit.ly/1NbcxM9 ) that they will send three names to the Wyoming Republican Party State Central Committee. The Sheridan County Commission will then select one of the nominees to fill out Patton’s remaining term.
