OAK CREEK, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County authorities say a car swerved and crashed into a power pole when the driver got distracted by a flying insect that entered her car through an open window.

Sheriff’s spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn said the 17-year-old driver was not injured in the crash that occurred Wednesday in the Village of Oak Creek.

According to D’Evelyn, the driver was wearing her seatbelt and the vehicle’s air bags deployed when the car hit the pole.

Utility crews arrived to replace the pole and repair damaged power lines in order to restore electricity service in the area.
