LAKEWOOD, Calif. (AP) - Traffic is moving again on the southbound Interstate 605 in southern Los Angeles County following a lengthy closure caused by an overturned tanker truck that spilled thousands of gallons of fuel.

Lanes were reopened late Wednesday morning in Lakewood after being shut down for more than 12 hours as hazmat crews cleared the scene.

The California Highway Patrol says one person was hospitalized following a crash involving the tanker and an SUV late Tuesday.

A county Fire Department spokesman tells City News Service that 3,500 gallons of fuel spilled from the tanker, which was carrying nearly 9,000 gallons.

The condition of the injured person was not immediately known.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
