NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Police say a van crashed into the Newport News Courthouse after the driver’s prosthetic leg detached.

Newport News police spokeswoman Holly McPherson tells The Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1GLdzJj ) that the woman was trying to parallel park when the accident occurred around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.

McPherson says the van hit a parked car and then backed into the building. The woman wasn’t injured. A person inside the courthouse suffered a minor injury.

McPherson says the accident didn’t affect court operations.
