GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - The Atlantic Coast Conference has hired Dennis Hennigan as its coordinator of football officiating.

Commissioner John Swofford said Thursday that Hennigan “brings integrity and years of knowledge to this position.”

Hennigan has worked ACC games the past two seasons after calling games in the Big East from 1998-2012 and in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference from 1983-97.

He has worked 15 bowl games and called the 2004 BCS championship game.

He replaces Doug Rhoads, who retired in February after officiating games for 40 years and coordinating the ACC’s officials since 2007.
