PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Police in Panama City Beach arrested a couple suspected in a string of crimes including the death of a 60-year-old Alabama woman.

Authorities said Wednesday that Elizabeth and Curtis Austin of Attalla, Alabama, were arrested after police spotted their car at Pier Park on Tuesday.

The News Herald of Panama City (https://bit.ly/1CY1cHh ) reports Alabama authorities tipped off police that the pair was likely heading to the beach. Police say 31-year-old Elizabeth Austin is being held on murder and armed robbery charges while 31-year-old Curtis Austin is accused of armed robbery.

The body of Judith McElroy Carranza was found Tuesday in north Alabama days after she’d been reported missing.

The Austins were taken to the Bay County Jail to await extradition to Alabama.
