JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Gov. Bill Walker has introduced legislation that would allow the Department of Natural Resources to sell educational or promotional merchandise to help support park operations.

Under the bill, informational, educational or promotional merchandise could be sold to a person, company, association, organization or other group for resale at a price intended to ensure a “fair and reasonable return” to the department.

The bill also would remove language requiring authorized fees to be collected in a park unit. Walker, in his transmittal letter, said that is to make clear the department has the authority to collect fees online or in other locations.
