LE MARS, Iowa (AP) - The Plymouth County Historical Museum Board has voted to move an old log cabin that once faced demolition to a site at the museum.

Built around 1900, the cabin has been at the Plymouth County Fairgrounds in Le Mars since 2004, when it was moved from a Girl Scout camp in southern Plymouth County.

Fair officials had planned for it to be torn down this month, but changed their minds when a concerned group of citizens asked if it could be moved to the museum.

The museum’s board voted Wednesday to move the cabin from the fairgrounds.

The Le Mars Daily Sentinel says the citizen group has already received pledges of more than $31,000 to help pay for the cabin’s moving costs.
