SADDLE RIVER, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say the coyote that attacked a New Jersey man tested positive for rabies.

Saddle River officials say the man who was attacked while working in his yard on Monday has started treatment for rabies.

The coyote was euthanized after the attack and officials discovered six dead pups in its den.

Police and wildlife officials are looking for the coyote’s mate or any other offspring.

Saddle Brook officials are asking residents not to leave small children or pets unattended outside,

Pet owners should also be sure their pets have been vaccinated for rabies.
