HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Two Hattiesburg councilmen are continuing to insist that Mayor Johnny DuPree bring forward nominees for three administrative positions still filled by unconfirmed employees or vacant.

The Hattiesburg American reports (https://hatne.ws/1CyO8EH) Robert Gholson, attorney for Councilmen Carter Carroll and Kim Bradley, filed a motion Wednesday requesting that a status conference be scheduled and DuPree should be required to appear and show cause why has not complied with the orders of this court.

On Feb. 2, Special Judge L. Breland Hilburn issued an amended writ of mandamus, giving DuPree three weeks to submit any remaining department heads or Municipal Court candidates for department approval.

DuPree said the council has twice turned down submissions for city clerk, city attorney and police chief.
