WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - A Williston man who authorities say got caught trying to steal a $14 pair of shoes at a Wal-Mart store is facing a dozen charges that could land him in prison for more than 50 years.

Thirty-eight-year-old William Jessop was arrested earlier this week. Authorities allege that he hit a store employee in the face with the shoes, head-butted an officer and kicked him in the face, and struck another officer in the face.

The Williston Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1EbmEe6 ) that Jessop allegedly threw a bag of oranges and knocked over a shelf of bread as he tried to flee from officers, then allegedly threatened an officer after finally being taken into custody.

Court documents do not list an attorney for Jessop.
