ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Veterans Affairs health care system wants to hear from veterans whose appointments are scheduled more than 30 days out.

Officials have dedicated a telephone line for veterans to ensure they have information for weighing options within the system or through the Veterans Choice Program.

Veterans can dial 505-222-3351 Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. or to leave their name and phone number for a return call.

The telephone line began operating Thursday and will be open through April 23.

The Veterans Choice Program was implemented last November to cover non-VA care for eligible veterans enrolled in VA health care.
