RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A suburban Richmond man has pleaded guilty to possessing and conspiring to distribute anabolic steroids.

The U.S. attorney’s office says 43-year-old Carl E. Macchiarulo of Midlothian entered the plea Wednesday in federal court. He faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced June 19.

In a statement of facts filed with the court, Macchiarulo admitted he operated an illegal steroid distribution business known as CK Labs out of his home between December 2012 and September 2014.

Macchiarulo imported raw steroid powders and pills from China and other countries, manufactured finished steroid products, advertised them on the Internet and sold them through the mail to customers in more than 30 states.
