COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Republican U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is coming to South Carolina two days after making his presidential bid official.

The Kentucky senator is holding a rally Thursday at the USS Yorktown on Charleston Harbor as part of his tour through the early-voting states. Paul launched his 2016 presidential campaign Tuesday in Louisville, Kentucky.

He traveled to New Hampshire on Wednesday. His “Stand with Rand” tour concludes Saturday after stops in Iowa and Las Vegas.

South Carolina holds the first presidential primary in the South.

Paul is the second fully declared candidate, behind Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, who was visiting South Carolina over the weekend.

They could face as many as 20 rivals before the lead-off Iowa caucuses in February.
