COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said redshirt freshman cornerback Wesley Green is no longer with the Gamecocks.
Spurrier says it was a mutual decision between the team and the player that Green needed a fresh start at another program.
Green is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound defensive back from Lithonia, Georgia. He was one of several highly rated first-year defensive backs that were part of South Carolina’s 2014 recruiting class.
Green came into fall camp as a backup at cornerback to Chris Lammons, a sophomore.
Green signed with South Carolina last year over offers from Georgia and Mississippi.
