LAS VEGAS (AP) - Investigators say a plumber’s torch started a Las Vegas house fire that caused almost $50,000 in damage.

The Las Vegas Sun reports (https://bit.ly/1J5aJCv ) that firefighters responded Saturday evening to the area of Rancho and Vegas drives.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials say they found smoke coming from the attic of a one-story, wood frame and stucco house. They were able to extinguish the blaze quickly.

Investigators say someone had been using a plumber’s torch to work on a water pipe outside the house when they notice smoke coming from the wall. The fire traveled up the wall and into the attic, but did not enter the occupied part of the house.
