SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Gov. Kate Brown has appointed a longtime state official to be the Oregon’s chief operating officer and head of the Department of Administrative Services.
The governor’s office announced Tuesday that Clyde Saiki will take over Sept 1. He’ll lead an agency responsible for technical and administrative support for the state bureaucracy.
Saiki is currently deputy director of the Oregon Department of Transportation, and previously spent 23 years at the Department of Human Services.
He’ll replace Michael Jordan, who was closely linked to former Gov. John Kitzhaber. Jordan stepped down weeks after Kitzhaber’s resignation.
The governor’s office says Saiki’s appointment is the first in a series of announcements Brown will be making “about staffing and programmatic changes” in the coming weeks.
