SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a Syracuse parolee has been charged with murder in connection with a New Year’s Day shooting following an argument outside a convenience store.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports ( ) 21-year-old Charquell Judge was arraigned Monday on charges of murder and assault in the West Colvin Street shooting that killed Kendell “Kizzy” Williams.

Williams was found in a backyard on West Beard Avenue with gunshot wounds to his back.

Police say Judge also shot Williams’ brother, Stephen Grimes, in the foot. Grimes was indicted on an illegal weapons charge after returning fire at Judge.

Judge has remained in jail with no bail since his January arrest. He’s also facing a parole violation stemming from a 2011 weapons conviction after police say he shot at a passing vehicle.
