CODY, Wyo. (AP) - A Florida couple escaped serious injury when a bear emerged from a ditch and struck the side of their motorcycle in the Beartooth Mountains in northern Wyoming.
The Cody Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/1DJZspl ) the encounter happened at about 6 p.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 212, two miles south of the Montana border and six miles from Cooke City, Montana.
Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Scott Hall says after the collision, the bear got up and ran off. Vincent and Donna Doser’s Harley-Davidson ended up with some missing chrome and a broken turn signal. Hall says Vincent, who is 64, may have suffered a cracked ankle.
The couple was treated at West Park Hospital in Cody and released. They had been staying in Cody and taking day rides.
