BAYONNE, N.J. (AP) - Officials say an elderly man struck a mayor’s aide in the face with his cane while trying to locate his personal keys at Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis’ office.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/1NpuMt8 ) the man, whose name was not released, was not arrested and didn’t cause serious injury to the aide, Anthony Vodrazka.

Spokesman Joe Ryan says the man had asked city workers to keep an eye out for his keys, and became upset Tuesday when he was told they had not yet been found.

It was unclear why the man targeted Vodrazka, who has worked as an aide to Davis since July 2014.

Ryan says at least two officers responded from the police headquarters building adjacent to city hall and calmed the situation down.

Vodrazka’s injuries were not considered serious.
