LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials say an abandoned car found in a desert area belongs to a missing San Diego County man.

Nikolaos Christidis was last seen July 22 in his hometown of Oceanside.

On Wednesday a deputy on patrol came upon Christidis’ 2015 Honda Civic in soft sand near Lake Los Angeles in the Antelope Valley. The car was locked and not visible from the nearest road.

A search of the area with off-road vehicles and a helicopter turned up nothing.

Oceanside police have joined the sheriff’s investigation.
