HOBBS, N.M. (AP) - A regional drug task force has shot a suspect in Hobbs after an apparent high-speed chase.

The Hobbs News-Sun reports (https://goo.gl/nhmDjd) that the suspect was shot Wednesday by an officer with the Lea County Drug Task Force.

Hobbs Deputy Police Chief Brian Dunlap says New Mexico State Police have taken over the investigation and did not release details on the shooting.

State police have not released the name of the suspect shot nor given details on the suspect’s condition. The name of the officer also was not released.

It’s the fourth police shooting in eight months in Hobbs.

The Lea County Drug Task Force is a multi-agency task force.
