KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A former Bullhead City high school teacher accused of sending nude photos to a student and smoking marijuana with students has been sentenced to eight months in jail and probation.

The Mohave Valley Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1UELPf0 ) 33-year-old Joseph Pagel pleaded guilty to luring a minor for sexual exploitation and transferring marijuana as part of a plea deal in July. He had been charged with nine other felonies.

Pagel was a math teacher at Mohave High School where he also coached track and field.

He was arrested in March after a student reported that she received sexually explicit text messages and nude photos from a teacher. Pagel also allegedly invited students to his house to smoke marijuana.

Pagel’s attorney says his client has apologized to the students and their parents.
