HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - A Horn Lake woman has been sentenced to life sentence in prison for the death of her abused 11-year-old stepson.

Multiple media outlets report that a DeSoto County Circuit Court jury in Hernando sentenced Amanda L. Raines on Wednesday after she and her husband, Jack T. Raines, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in January.

Prosecutors say that Justin T. Raines was tied up, starved and beaten by his father and stepmother. Authorities say the boy weighed 56 pounds when he was found dead by police in the bathroom of the family’s rental home on Feb. 6, 2014.

The boy’s father has not yet been sentenced.
