GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) - Land Between The Lakes’ Woodlands Nature Station is planning to explore extremes such as grossest, most venomous and ugliest of nature next month.

The programs take place during Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5 to Sept. 7. There will be turtle races, a hike, crafts and more as well as sunset canoe trips for an additional charge.

Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area manages more than 170,000 acres in western Kentucky and Tennessee as part of the U.S. Forest Service and Department of Agriculture’s public lands program.
