WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Worcester man has been sentenced to four years in prison for a one-punch fight that left another man dead.

Rafael Ramos pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter in the death of 48-year-old Elohm Punch of Worcester.

Prosecutors say 40-year-old Ramos hit Punch once in the face during a fight, which caused him to fall and hit his head on the pavement.

Punch was found unconscious by state troopers and appeared to be having a seizure. Investigators determined the fatal blow caused his death.

Authorities said the fight began when Punch’s girlfriend got into the back of Ramos’ friend’s car. Punch allegedly hit him before Ramos got involved.

Ramo’s lawyer called Punch’s death an “unintentional and tragic consequence.”

Ramos was given almost two years credit for time served awaiting his trial.
