FARMERVILLE, La. (AP) - Police say a 30-year-old man is in serious condition after he was shot by a state trooper and a deputy in Louisiana.

The News-Star in Monroe reports (https://tnsne.ws/1P9vL1m) that Louisiana State Police say 30-year-old Ryan Cooper of West Monroe was shot Tuesday night after pointing a gun at the trooper and the deputy, who was from the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office.

State police spokesman Trooper Michael Reichardt (RIKE’ hart) says the deputy and trooper arrived at a residence in Downsville in north Louisiana about 11 p.m. to investigate a family disturbance. Reichardt says that a man later identified as Cooper was ordered to drop the gun but that he instead pointed it at officers.

Reichardt says Cooper, the trooper and the deputy are white. He didn’t release names of the trooper or deputy.
