MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Prosecutors say a Marietta man will spend life in prison after he pleaded guilty of killing his longtime lover.

Cobb County District Attorney Vic Reynolds said 59-year-old Frank Davis Bowles of Marietta admitted to shooting 60-year-old Samuel Collins multiple times in 2004. Reynolds said the couple had argued about how dinner had been cooked.

Prosecutors say Bowles dragged the body from their Marietta home into the woods at the back of the property, then took the victim’s driver license and credit cards and drove to Tennessee in the victim’s van.

Tennessee law officers later found Bowles passed out inside the van on the side of a highway, and authorities say he soon confessed to the killing.

On Wednesday, Bowles pleaded guilty of malice murder and was given the life sentence.
