PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - The Petersburg City Council has filed a lawsuit against Sheriff Vanessa R. Crawford for refusing to turn over city-owned vehicles.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1hzrGc9 ) reports the lawsuit says Crawford has refused to turn over four city-owned vehicles valued at about $27,000 and hidden them.

The missing vehicles are a Ford F250 pickup truck, a Dodge Ram Quad Cab pickup, a cargo trailer and a tow trailer.

The lawsuit also claims Crawford has refused to turn over the keys to 11 other city-owned vehicles.

Crawford disputed the allegations. She told the newspaper it doesn’t make sense that she would hide vehicles because her office doesn’t have enough vehicles.
