ALBERTVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A physician has been accused of soliciting sex from an Albertville patient in exchange for money and drugs.

Multiple media outlets report that 52-year-old Dr. Ervin Wells was arrested Tuesday at an Albertville hotel and charged with solicitation of prostitution.

Albertville Police Chief Doug Pollard says one of the doctor’s patients reported that he offered her money and medication in exchange for sexual acts.

Wells is listed as a family practitioner in Montgomery who also worked out of an Albertville clinic.

Pollard says he has not heard of any other similar accusations levied against Wells by his patients.

Wells remains in the Marshall County Jail on $100,000 bond. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
