RIDGELAND, Miss. (AP) - The Ridgeland Public Works Department is asking all residents and businesses to reduce water usage immediately until further notice.

Officials tell WAPT-TV (https://bit.ly/1L9KCrH ) that the Old Canton Road Well is temporarily out of service for repairs and water levels are unstable due to the extended period of heat.

They said lawn irrigation is one of the causes of the low water levels, and officials are asking residents to stop watering their lawns in the short term.

Technicians will monitor the situation over the next few days and officials say if the water levels continue to drop, stricter water restrictions may be required.

If you have any questions contact the Public Works Department at 601-853-2027.
