RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama sheriff says he’s seen attempts to break out of jail before.

But Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver tells the Times Daily (https://bit.ly/1Kk1h8Y) that a woman’s attempt to break into the county jail on Wednesday is “a first for us.”

Oliver says 43-year-old Talisha McCann had been released from the jail a couple weeks ago. She was spotted on jail security cameras using tools to cut through a back gate.

McCann faces charges of criminal trespassing, criminal mischief, promoting prison contraband and possession of a controlled substance and burglar tools.

Oliver says she was trying to bring prescription pain medication to the jail.

Jail records do not state whether McCann has an attorney.
