LAS VEGAS (AP) - Two Republican presidential candidates are in Las Vegas a day ahead of rural Nevada’s Inaugural Basque Fry political event.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is appearing at a fundraiser for the Clark County GOP at 7 p.m. Friday at The Innevation Center.

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas is speaking to the Nevada chapter of Americans for Prosperity alongside CATO Institute Senior Fellow Daniel Mitchell beginning 5 p.m. Friday at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas as part of the group’s Road to Reform events.

Both are expected to speak at Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt’s first Basque Fry political gathering Saturday. Other candidates participating include former CEO Carly Fiorina, former New York Gov. George Pataki and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker who were among 17 Republican presidential candidates invited to attend.
