DANBURY, Conn. (AP) - An 83-year-old pilot escaped injury after crashing his small plane at Danbury Municipal Airport.

Fire department officials told The News-Times (https://bit.ly/1IRUe7A ) that the nose of a Cessna Skymaster 337 scraped the runway after the propeller touched the asphalt while landing Friday shortly after 3 p.m. The airport was closed for about 15 minutes after the mishap.

The pilot was the only person on board and wasn’t injured. Although the accident was minor, the plane sustained significant damage to the propeller, engine and at least one of the wheels.

The pilot’s name wasn’t released. Airport officials say he’s from New York.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration are expected to begin investigating the accident Monday.
