MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin State Treasurer Matt Adamczyk says he’ll nominate fellow Republican Julian Bradley to serve as executive secretary of the board that manages the state’s public lands.

Bradley ran unsuccessfully for secretary of state in 2014, losing to incumbent Democrat Doug La Follette.

Adamczyk said Bradley’s experience in telecommunications management qualifies him to lead the board, which manages trust fund assets largely to benefit the state’s public schools.

Bradley didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

The position is open after Tia Nelson, daughter of Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, resigned last month. Her departure came after Adamczyk voted to ban staff from advocating for global warming policy changes.

La Follette says Adamcyzk is trying to politicize the secretary position.
