CHATHAM, Mass. (AP) - Shark experts say they spotted at least 10 great whites off the coast of Chatham during their latest survey of Cape Cod waters.

The Boston Globe reports (https://bit.ly/1J99vV3 ) that the great whites were seen Friday during a twice-weekly search for sharks off Cape Cod.

Crews with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy typically see five to 10 sharks during the surveys. They saw seven sharks on Monday. On Aug. 6, they saw a season high of 16 sharks and received a ping from an acoustic tag attached to a 17th shark.

On Wednesday, the Nauset Light and Coast Guard beaches on Cape Cod were closed temporarily after visitors at Nauset Light spotted a great white shark biting a seal and spitting it back out onto the beach.
