MOORESVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old boy has died after the all-terrain vehicle he was driving struck a bridge guardrail in a town southwest of Indianapolis.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said in a news release that the accident happened around 7 p.m. Thursday in Mooresville. The department says Dalton Stuck was driving an ATV when he lost control and hit a guardrail. His brother, 13-year-old Parker Jones, was also on the ATV.

According to the department, Stuck was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital with severe chest trauma and was later pronounced dead. Jones was taken by ambulance to another hospital with a laceration to his left leg, and was listed in stable condition.

The department says it’s not known why Stuck lost control, and that neither boy was wearing a helmet or protective gear.
