COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Police say a Columbus woman was critically injured and her husband wounded after they were shot inside a car on the city’s south side.

The Columbus Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1EqFQBh ) the shooting occurred inside a white Chevrolet Impala around 4:20 p.m. Thursday on Wager Street.

The woman, identified as 35-year-old Patria Lipson, was listed in extremely critical condition at OhioHealth Grant Medical Center. Her husband, 36-year-old Walter Lipson, is in serious condition.

Paramedics say Mrs. Lipson was shot at least once in her face and Mr. Lipson was shot in the shoulder. Police say Mrs. Lipson was shot at least one other time.

Sgt. Christ Holzhauser says police believe the shooter knew the couple and the incident might have occurred during a drug transaction.

An investigation is ongoing.
