DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa has received a roughly $3 million federal grant to help up to 650 employees laid off by Deere & Co.

The Iowa Workforce Development agency made the announcement Thursday. The agency said it will open a transition center at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo to help workers retrain and receive career services.

The Des Moines Register (https://dmreg.co/1DS8ujO ) reports 1,300 workers have been laid off from the company since last year.
