EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - A Junction City man, who failed to register as a sex offender, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape of an 18-year-old woman.

The Register-Guard reports (https://is.gd/glpe8J ) 27-year-old Joshua Anthony Dallavis was sentenced Thursday and must serve the 10-year term with no chance of early release. He was found guilty last week of several charges, including first-degree rape and furnishing alcohol to a person under the age of 21.

Prosecutor Erik Hasselman argued that Dallavis gave the victim alcohol and raped her at his apartment when she was “physically helpless.”

Dallavis stopped registering as a sex offender in 2012 after being convicted of sexually abusing a child when he was a juvenile.

The attorney for Dallavis says his client maintains that he didn’t rape the victim.
