MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - Middle Tennessee has dismissed senior guard DJ Jones from its men’s basketball program.

The school’s athletic department announced Friday that Jones was removed from the team “for violating department policy.” Middle Tennessee coach Kermit Jones said in a statement that “we were all pushing for DJ to do well” and that “we wish DJ all the best.”

Jones, who is from Chicago, averaged 4.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and 10.6 minutes per game for Middle Tennessee last season. He played 27 games and made two starts.

Before coming to Middle Tennessee, Jones spent two seasons at Southwest Tennessee Community College.
