FORT RANSOM, N.D. (AP) - Fort Ransom State Park in southeastern North Dakota is hosting a celebration this weekend of the 50th anniversary of North Dakota’s Parks and Recreation Department.

The Saturday event at the park in the Sheyenne River Valley south of Valley City will include food, musical entertainment, children’s games and guest speakers. Parks and Rec’s 50th Anniversary Traveling Exhibit also will be at the park.

The event is one of 13 around the state this year celebrating the department’s golden anniversary. Saturday also is the park’s Visitor Appreciation Day, so entry is free.
