PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix police officer suffered a minor injury when his gun went off while he was helping a stranded driver.

Nobody else was hurt and there was no property damage. Sgt. Jonathan Howard said the officer was treated at a local hospital.

Howard said the officer was off-duty when he stopped to help a man jump-start his car. The officer adjusted the handgun that was tucked into his waistband when the gun accidentally discharged.
