ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Arlington police say it’s possible that the same man is responsible for attacks on five women since late last month.

The most recent assault was Thursday night on South Frederick Street. Police say a man with a stick grabbed a woman’s wrists and dragged her toward some woods. Police say the man stole the woman’s cell phone and ran away when she screamed.

Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck says all the victims have been walking alone at night in dark areas and the attacker has tried to sexually assault them.

The first assault occurred on July 25. Police say a man dragged a woman into some bushes and groped her before she got away. Four subsequent attacks had similar circumstances.
