ERIE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Prosecutors say no charges are planned against two sheriff’s deputies in southeastern Michigan after they shot and wounded a man suspected of stabbing his grandmother.

The Monroe News reports (https://bit.ly/1N7gNv5 ) the Monroe County prosecutor’s office determined deputies acted in self-defense July 16.

Police have said the 68-year-old woman was stabbed with a kitchen knife in the bathroom of her mobile home in Erie Township. Police say the 30-year-old man was shot in the face. Both survived.

Police at the time said deputies were trying to protect themselves by shooting the man, who was in a bath tub and appeared to be raising what was believed to be a weapon. He didn’t have a weapon when he was shot, but told police he pointed an object to try to scare them.
